RO is a near 40 something sales professional that has been fortunate enough to avoid debt and save enough to be on a short path to FI. Mr. RO doesn’t lead a life of depravity nor does he live a life of excess. He lives with his wife and three young children in a modest house in a modest neighborhood. Most of RO’s colleagues drive fancy cars and live in large houses. Keeping up with the Jones’ and RO’s colleagues has never appealed RO.
RO has reached lean FI but is currently working to achieve FAT FI, once that point is reached entering a traditional “early retirement” doesn’t appeal to him. RO finds enjoyment in work but there are certain aspects of his current position that he could do without. Once FI is achieved he hopes to figure out what the next step will be, the “Retirement Optional” step.
